The LMC parallax (Gaia DR3: 81.09 ± 0.11 mas, distance 30.92 ± 0.04 kpc) serves as a calibration anchor for TRGB: when this distance is held fixed and TRGB magnitudes are tied to LMC globular clusters, downstream galaxies depend critically on LMC metallicity assumptions ([Fe/H] ≈ −0.3 to −0.4), introducing ±0.10 mag degeneracy.
